Soil & Nutrition Conference 2018

Jono Neiger had a great time at this year’s Soil & Nutrition Conference, organized by the Bionutrient Food Association. This year’s theme was Regenerating Vitality: Realizing Nature’s Potential.

A highlight of the conference was learning from Amish farmer John Kempf. John is the host of the Regenerative Agriculture Podcast and founder of Advancing Eco Agriculture, a plant nutrition and biostimulants consulting company. He brings years of daily observations and practical experience to the discussion of how to increase soil vitality and improve the nutrition of food.

Jono also had fun checking out Earth Care Farm‘s table, who set up their soil food web microscope. Passersby could  look at several drops of a compost sample, opening a window into the microbial life there. The assumption is that the greater the presence of life in the soil, the greater the health of the soil and the plants growing in it. This educational tool offers a glimpse of the complex soil food web that is happening under our feet every day.
