Northeast Silvopasture Case Studies

Documenting and sharing silvopasture practices across the Northeast through practitioner-led case studies and storytelling.

Regenerative Design Group partnered with Wellspring Farm and Inhabit Films to document the diversity, scale, and lived practice of silvopasture across the Northeastern United States. Beginning with a regional inventory of self-identified practitioners, the project gathered responses from 145 farms across nine states (ME, VT, NH, MA, CT, NY, RI, NJ, PA), representing approximately 27,000 acres of managed land, including more than 5,300 acres under silvopasture management.

From this network, a representative set of farms was selected for an in-depth video and case study series that explores silvopasture in real-world contexts—across different landscapes, livestock systems, and management goals. The resulting series offers an accessible snapshot of how silvopasture is being practiced on the ground, highlighting both shared principles and place-specific approaches.

Together, the videos and case study sheets support peer learning, strengthen regional knowledge exchange, and elevate practitioner experience as a foundation for resilient land, animal, and farm systems.

  • We are always looking to improve ecological outcomes while making our farm more resilient and productive. We knew that the potential benefits for grazing animals would be great once the system was mature.
