What is culture? How might we approach the design of cultures as whole systems in an ecological context? How can we design cultures that minimize stress and competition, and maximize cooperation, harmony, productivity, and diversity, while allowing each community member to remain true to their intrinsic nature? Explore the permaculture approach to designing cultures as whole systems in this workshop led by Dave Jacke, author of Edible Forest Gardens. Sponsored by POP and the Eastern PA Permaculture Guild and hosted by PSU Ag Extension. $15 for general public, $10 for POP orchard partners. More info and re-registration required:

Don’t miss this exciting opportunity to explore community orchards in North Philadelphia neighborhoods with a team of Permaculture experts including Dave Jacke, Keith Zaltzberg, Melissa Miles, Phil Forsyth, Robyn Mello, and Jon Hopkins. Our tour of Philadelphia Orchard Project sites will start at the Awbury Food Forest, then visit Philly Earth at the Village of Arts & Humanities, and finally explore the Norris Square Neighborhood Project gardens including Tertulias Orchard. 1pm- 5pm. $50 per person, with event proceeds going towards planting more community orchards in Philadelphia!
