Urban Agriculture taught online by RDG Ecological Design Associate, Helena K. Farrell, MLA

One of the many special characteristics that distinguishes RDG from other landscape design firms is our commitment to education and the fact that all of our team members are also accomplished educators.  For example, RDG’s, Helena Farrell will be teaching a course called “Urban Agriculture: Innovative Farm Systems for the 21st Century” through Continuing & Professional Education at UMass, Amherst this summer from July 8 – August 16.  The course introduces students to Urban Ag. case studies and production practices from around the globe and provides a framework for understanding the interwoven relationships between site, people, biology and economics that are intrinsic to urban farming. The course provides a solid foundation for anyone interested in practicing urban agriculture, designing a farm system, developing a Masters or Phd thesis on the topic, or contributing to the field through investigative research.  Read more about the course and the instructor’s teaching of it on the course website.
